Maynooth Library Cat: The documentary
I was involved in the production of a documentary centered around the Maynooth campus cat, a well-known figure on the campus. The aim was to explore the story behind this cat, its origins, daily life, and the relationship it has with students, faculty, and the local community.
In pre-production, I assisted the team with securing permissions and organizing logistics. I made sure the necessary equipment, such as the Zoom H5 and boom mic, was ready for the shoot.
During production, I was responsible for capturing all audio, ensuring sound levels were optimal, and that interviews and ambient sounds were recorded clearly. I also ensured the interviews were conducted with the best sound quality, using the right equipment.
In post-production, I edited all the interview audio, removing background noise and syncing it with the video footage. I also helped write the narration outline, which we recorded in the studio, ensuring it complemented the overall tone of the documentary.
This was very much a team effort, with everyone contributing their skills. The documentary was shared by the university and received over 20,000 views, which reflects the hard work and collaboration that went into the project.
