Meet Furry Friends:
Website Design and Brand Identity
The goal of the website for Furry Friends was to increase bookings for their services (dog and cat grooming, training, and the new dog hotel) while also boosting brand awareness. To achieve this, I focused on showcasing the business’s diverse services, emphasizing the customer experience, and highlighting the new dog hotel, all while ensuring the website remained user-friendly and visually engaging.
For the visual design, I chose a color palette that combined deep navy with a contrasting yellowy-orange. The deep navy conveys trust and professionalism, while the bright orange adds warmth and energy, creating a welcoming, balanced aesthetic that reflects the friendly yet high-quality nature of the services provided.
The typography was carefully selected for readability and style. I used Playfair Display for headers to give the design an elegant, classic feel, which complements the luxurious care services offered. For body text and other content, I used Montserrat, a modern sans-serif font that ensures clarity and a clean, approachable look. This combination of serif and sans-serif fonts strikes a perfect balance between professionalism and warmth.
The content design was crafted to highlight the range of services clearly, with strong call-to-action buttons that prompt visitors to book services or learn more. Testimonials from happy customers were integrated to build trust and credibility, while practical tips for pet care at home were shared to engage users further. The new dog hotel facility was given a dedicated page with visuals of its luxurious, heated private rooms to attract potential customers.
In terms of technical features, the website was designed to be fully responsive, ensuring it looks great on any device. A navigation system with dropdown menus was included for easy access to all pages, while interactive elements, like micro-interactions and a bootstrap image gallery, helped keep the site engaging. The design also incorporated both two-column and three-column layouts, as required.
Looking at competitors like DSPCA, Pets Behave, and Inn the Doghouse, I aimed to create a more polished, visually cohesive site with clear branding and stronger interactive elements. This helped Furry Friends stand out as a professional yet warm choice for pet care.
After completing wireframes and design mockups, I fine-tuned the layout for clarity and usability. The final site design was implemented in HTML and CSS, ensuring everything functioned seamlessly and aligned with the brand’s welcoming yet professional tone.
